Darlington Maphosa’s Story: Why Mnangagwa’s Administration Is Not For Me

Like everyone else it’s not easy to leave one’s place of origin and venture into the unknown.

But sometimes because of circumstances beyond our control we are left with no choice but to start believing that maybe my slot was never here in the first place.

I wouldn’t want to say my lived experiences as an unemployed graduate has been the worst but my struggles and frustrations also rank up there.

I spent five years working as a temporary teacher supporting my siblings and saving for my tertiary education.

Darlington Maphosa

As the first born in a family of four with a deceased father it was natural for me to sacrifice my happiness for my immediate family members.

After completing my degree in June 2016 I had hope. Everyone in the family had high hopes. I sent out, and is still doing same, several job applications for the past two years to no lucky.

Like many others the system just couldn’t find a slot for me. Hope has since to diminish including that of those who are so dear to me.

Never in my four year course had I ever given imagined that I will seek pastures other than those that nurtured me since birth.

But grazing area has become too small for all of us to depend on. Home will always be home and I will always be keen to come back home equipped with skills of how they do it on the other side.

Thank you
